CLIENT PROFILE - NancyScans (USA)

NancyScans knows wide format printing. They've become the go-to guys for a range of corporate and artistic clients across the US looking for top quality photographic images and output. Looking to grow their capabilities, the possibility of adding 3D production to their repertoire was intriguing to NancyScans' CEO John Olson. However, with no experience in the world of 3D carving and sculpting, Olson realized that his company would need some serious help in building out 3D capabilities. To get this help, Olson turned to Streamline Automation and the FROG3D® foam carving system.

With the FROG3D® system, NancyScans now have the capabilities they need to take their clients' ideas and design an end product in 2D, 3D or a combination of both - which has translated into more creative work and more business. While the FROG3D® system has given NancyScans new production capabilities, Olson's choice to go with FROG3D® went beyond the equipment's capabilities. "We were total novices to 3D," he explains, "so we chose FROG3D® because it was a turnkey solution. The equipment, training and support got us up and running immediately." For NancyScans this meant a smooth and painless transition into their new production processes, allowing them to quickly start producing 3D products for their clients, despite being complete newcomers to 3D work.

Ultimately, by offering 3D products alongside wide format graphics and giving their clients a new range of options, NancyScans have been able to redefine how they do business during a time when other businesses in their industry are just trying to weather the economic storm. "Streamline Automation and FROG3D® have given us the ability to totally reinvent ourselves and grow our bottom line during very tough economic times. They've provided us with good equipment, good training and a turnkey solution that has allowed us to enter the 3D market quickly and not look back."

PRODUCT UPDATE - FROGWare™

FROGWare™ software and the FROGScan™ 3D laser scanner are key components of the FROG3D® system, our automated 3D foam carving solution. In conjunction with FROGWare™, FROGScan™ gives users the ability to scan any 3D object and translate it into a machine-ready digital file. Thanks to recent improvements to FROGWare™, the process for going from scan to a machine-ready file is faster and the quality of the scanned file has drastically improved.

In the past, the software has provided a basic means of combining multiple scans into a complete 3D model, but for complex objects the process could sometimes be time consuming. A new FROGWare™ module called FROGFusion™ offers a simplified, automated means of combining multiple scans to create a completely watertight 3D model - regardless of how complicated the object. Users can take as many scans as required from multiple angles to ensure undercut details have been captured, and then let the software piece each scan together automatically to create a 3D model complete with high detail and undercuts.

These improvements not only put FROGScan™ in a class of its own, but they also improve the overall capabilities and efficiencies of the FROG3D® foam cutting system as a whole, making it faster than ever to go from art to part.

VISIT STREAMLINE'S UPDATED WEBSITE AND BLOG

Streamline Automation's website has been updated to more clearly reflect how Streamline can help their clients. Part of the motivation behind updating the website was to clearly present how clients benefit from working with Streamline. "We really wanted to highlight the kind of work that FROG3D® is capable of, and there's really no better way to do this than to show our clients' work," explains Streamline President Dwayne Lehman. "We've made sure that their work is displayed throughout the site, but we have also created a number of new photo galleries that show off what they have been able to do across a number of different applications." Visitors to the site will find galleries for a number of applications, including themed environments & exhibits, sculpture enlargement & fine art replication, signage, mold making and architectural foam.

In order to share the expertise that Streamline has developed, the new website also incorporates new content features. "We can help clients with everything related to their foam carving production processes, including equipment, processes, troubleshooting and tricks of the trade," Lehman explains. "There really is no other company that can match what we bring to the table, and we wanted to give a sense of this on the website. That's why the FROGBlog was created." FROGBlog aims at replicating some of Streamline's expertise on the web, and it will strive to be an information resource for anyone interested in foam carving.
